Detailed Itinerary

Day 01 : Arrive Kochi

Upon arrival at Kochi International airport, you will be welcomed by our company representative and transferred to your hotel for check-in. Your travel documents will be handed over to you with a briefing of the tour program. After check-in process, time free at leisure for own activities and relax in the hotel to acclimatization with Indian weather conditions.

KOCHI Formerly known as Cochin, is popularly known as the Queen of Arabian Sea. Kochi had been a main port city of the Indian Peninsula and was the centre of the world spice trade for many centuries. The city derives its name from the Malayalam word Kochazhi meaning small lagoon.

Day 02 : Kochi Munnar (135 kms drive)

Sightseeing Proceed for a guided tour of Kochin visiting Fort Kochi; originally it was a fishing village of no significance during the pre-colonial Kerala The king of Cochin gave permission to the Portuguese to build a fort near the waterfront to protect their commercial interests. Later visit Bolgatty Palace; located on the Bolghatty Islands is one of the oldest existing palaces built by the Dutch in India, during the pre-British times. Further we will visit to Chinese Fishing Nets; the fixed land installations, which are used for a very unique and unusual method of fishing.

Afternoon, check-out from the hotel and drive to Munnar. Upon arrival, check-in to the hotel

MUNNAR 1600 meters above the sea level, this beautiful paradise is situated at the confluence of three mountain ranges – Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. This was the summer resort of the British in south India. The beautiful tea plantations, picture-book towns and winding lanes make this hill station more beautiful.

Day 03 : Munnar Sightseeing

Sightseeing Proceed to visit Eravikulam National Park; Famous for its endangered inhabitant – the Nilgiri Tahr. Spread over an area of 97 sq. km., this park is also home to several species of rare butterflies, animals and birds. Inside the Eravikulam National Park see Anamudi Peak, the highest peak in south India standing. Later visit the Tea Estate & Tea Museum showcases some of the exquisite and interesting aspects on the genesis and growth of tea plantations in Kerala’s high ranges.

Day 04 : Munnar Thekkady (120 kms drive)

Breakfast in the hotel and check-out from the hotel & drive to Thekkady. Upon arrival, check-in to the hotel.

THEKKADY The very sound of the word Thekkady conjures up images of elephants, unending chains of hills and spice scented plantations. The Periyar forests of Thekkady are one of the finest wildlife reserves in India.

Sightseeing Proceed to a Boat Cruise on Lake Periyar; the splendid artificial lake formed by the Mullaperiyar Dam across the Periyar River to discover the Periyar Wildlife Reserve. Over 1965 flowering plants including 171 grass species 143 species of orchids. The only south Indian conifer, scientifically known as Podocarpus wallichianus, grows in the forests of Periyar Tiger Reserve. Later enjoy the Tea & Spice Plantations tour in the areas adjoining the Tiger Reserve.

Day 05 : Thekkady Kumarakom (130 kms drive)

Breakfast in the hotel. Check-out & drive to Kumakom. Upon arrival, check-in to the hotel.

KUMARAKOM – A cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake is an enchanting backwater destination. Kumarakom is the home of The Bird Sanctuary, spread across 14 acres is a favorite haunt of migratory birds and an ornithologist’s paradise.

Day 06 : Kumarakom Alleppey (Houseboat)

Breakfast in the hotel.

Sightseeing Visit to Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary early in the morning before sunrise to witness the birds preparing to leave their forest homes and fly over the lake.

Afternoon, check-out from the hotel and transfer Alleppey to board the houseboat.

ALLEPPEY Also known as the Venice of the East, Alleppey is famous for its boat races, backwater holidays, beaches, marine products and coir industry. The Houseboats of Kerala are originally known Kettuvallams. Kettuvallams or rice barges used to carry tons of rice and spices during old days.

While staying in a houseboat, you can enjoy and experience the daily lifestyle of the local peoples around the Vembanad Lake and Kerala backwaters.

Day 07 : Alleppey Kovalam (160 kms drive)

After breakfast, disembark houseboat and drive to Kovalam. Upon arrival, check-in to the hotel.

KOVALAM An ideal beach destination Kovalam, white sands, emerald sea and swaying palms of the beach make for an idyllic destination for those who love sun, sand and surf. The Light House Beach, Hawah Beach and Samudra Beach are the best beaches in Kovalam to enjoy your holidays.

Day 08 : Kovalam Sightseeing to Trivandrum City

Breakfast in the hotel and later proceed for half day sightseeing to Trivandrum City.

TRIVANDRUM Named after Anantha Padmanabha or Lord Vishnu, the city is home to many ancient temples. The landmark is the Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple around which the city has been built on seven low hills. Trivandrum is also the home of more than hundred recognized Ayurveda centers in and around the city and knows as the best Ayurveda treatment center in the world.

Located in the East Fort, Padmanabha Swamy Temple is one of the most popular Vishnu Temples in South India. The place holds the prestige of being counted among 108 holiest abodes of Lord Vishnu in the works of Tamil saints. The salagramams that are used to make the statue of Lord Vishnu were imported from Nepal amidst much pomp and show. The presiding deity of the temple Lord Vishnu is reclining on a large serpent that is ‘Anantha’. Stone carvings and murals adorn the temple.
